A doctor-owned medical centre in Wānaka

Cardrona Doctors was established to provide accessible, high-quality general practice care for the Wānaka community and the visitors to the region.

As a doctor-owned clinic founded by Dr Andrew Wilson, decisions regarding patient care are made by experienced GPs. This ensures the focus remains exactly where it should be: on timely access to services, patient continuity, and practical support when it’s most needed. Kindness is a core value that influences both the patient experience and the way the team collaborates.

All doctors have completed fellowships in General Practice and are committed to postgraduate education and high clinical standards.

Care for locals and visitors

Cardrona Doctors provides care for both enrolled patients and visitors to Wānaka. The medical centre routinely sees people with injuries, acute illnesses, and travel-related health concerns, and the team is experienced in caring for new patients and those from other healthcare systems.

We offer same-day and urgent appointments wherever possible, with walk-ins welcome, making access to care straightforward for both locals and visitors.

Patients can access ACC care (where eligible), along with insurance documentation and fit-to-fly certificates where required. Care is delivered with an awareness of different cultural expectations to ensure patients feel comfortable and supported.

Cardrona Doctors also has access to an on-site clinical pharmacist, an increasingly valuable part of modern general practice care. This helps support medication management, chronic condition care, and practical patient advice as part of an integrated healthcare approach.

Built on experience

Cardrona Doctors builds on decades of general practice experience through its shared ownership with North End Health Centre, a GP-owned clinic serving the Oamaru community since 1983.

This connection reflects a consistent clinical approach grounded in established best practice, adapted to meet the needs of the Wānaka community.
